2019 / Site-Specific Work / Variable Dimensions
This project reflects the wintery nature of the month of February in Vienna and its transformation into Spring, with the frozen surface of the lakes beginning to thaw into the water. I installed a series of spirit levels, let them stand or lie beneath the frozen surface of the lake. The spirit levels is an indicator of whether the icy layer resting on the lake is horizontal. In the meantime, the spirit levels also represent how the influences of time and temperature affect the lake. However, the process of ice dissolving as each second goes by means that measuring the surface of the lake is in fact meaningless. As a consequence, the position of the spirit levels as standing or lying on the ice simply ‘continue itself in itself’.
